The latest Drought Monitor map showed improvement over the Winter and Spring Wheat Belts versus last week due to much needed rain arriving from a stalled Spring storm this past weekend. The Winter Wheat Belt is still in need of rainfall to replenish soils, especially over western and southern fields. The Spring Wheat Belt also received beneficial rains and saw a decrease in coverage in drought conditions on the map. Conditions will be warm and dry until later this weekend when a weather system bring additional chances for showers as a fairly active pattern sets up through the rest of the month.
