The overnight weather data reversed back colder across the primary corn and soybean belt of the US. With daytime highs forecast to be below normal through May 10, along with periods of heavy showers accumulating to inches, plantings will continue to fall further off the 5-year average pace. A warmer pattern is favored May 11-15, although rather far out at this point and where changes are likely.

Rather chilly weather system May 4-5 in new GFS operational run. Not what those wanting to plant want to see.

Same deal in new GFS data, a bit too cool US corn and bean belt. This also means soil temperatures only in upper 40s to lower 50s through May 7. But they do rocket warmer after that as highs of 60s and 70s increase in coverage.

Winter Wheat belt trends a little wetter in the latest GFS ensemble data. Although western Kansas likely will be on the lighter amount side.
